Most times we tend to look behind, we try to analyse why some things do not work out and if we could turn the hands of time, we think we would be able to fix it up.
We cannot control the times in our lives, everything takes place in a step to step manner. We cannot rush things because at the end of the day, we become so preoccupied with so many things and we tend to lose focus on one aspect we are actually pursuing.
So, back to my topic stop looking back or trying to figure why things did not work out perfectly in your journey of life. I have been guilty of such countless times, but anyways I have no choice but to be thankful for where I am and where am going to.
If things did not work out as you desired, just leave it alone and focus on the now moment and allow God to take control. Enjoy the best of today and tomorrow will be better than the past.
Is it a relationship that did not work out or a job that you wished you would have gotten if you had scaled the interview?
Or is it a friend that is so close to your heart that betrayed you despite the love and care you showed him or her.
Or is it a deal you invested in and it eventually went down the drain just like that.
The past is gone stop lingering on it or try to bring back things or people who have gone for one reason or the other. I know it can be very difficult because the memories are still there, but if we want to have a wonderful future then we have to look forward, it might not be rosy but everything will definitely fall in place.
Here are some steps in letting go of the past:
- Acceptance: Acceptance is the first step to letting go and setting yourself free. Accept that you cannot change the past, the past is in the past.
- Focus: Focus on what can be changed, don't waste your time worrying on things you cannot change. Focus on your today, keep moving forward.
- Understand: Understand that you are not your past. Understand that the situations and patterns and people in your life created your experiences, they did not create you. Understanding creates awareness; awareness helps you break the cycle.
- Take a chance: Maybe there is an opportunity knocking at your door go for it, for example you want to expand your horizon on a particular idea, go for training, keep yourself busy by making an impact that will be worthwhile.
- Embrace life in a new way: Be positive about life, if one door closes another one will surely open, every disappointment is a blessing in disguise.
- Believe: Believe in God that with Him you are more than able to accomplish all that he has destined you to be.
- Be grateful: Have a grateful attitude to life, that the best is coming your way. Out of that bitterness comes the sweetness, it could have been worse but God did not allow that.
